A car manufacturer signed a lease at a South Carolina industrial park as part of expansion plans that promise to bring hundreds of jobs to the state.
Drive Automotive Industries leased warehouse space last year at Augusta Grove Business Park in Piedmont in a move that shows the company's continued investment in the Palmetto State.
Drive Automotive, an affiliate of the Canadian company Magna International, produces car body panels and assembles body systems. It signed the lease after receiving economic incentives from the Greenville County Council amid expansion efforts worth $194 million that also include properties at 120 Moon Acres Road and 923 Matrix Parkway. The company's expansion will lead to 200 jobs over the next few years, the Greenville Journal reported.
Magna International is primarily in Canada but also has holdings in Michigan, Georgia, Arkansas and Florida in addition to South Carolina.
About the deal: The company signed a full-building lease for Becknell Industrial's recently completed, 625,000-square-foot Augusta Grove distribution center. The deal is through 2037.
They made it happen: Brian Young and Elliott Fayssoux, senior directors at Cushman & Wakefield, and Kacie Jackson, a broker at the firm, represented the landlord. Colliers’ Vice Presidents Brockton Hall and Dillon Swayngim, as well as Garrett Scott, managing director, worked on behalf of Drive Automotive Industries in the lease agreement.
