Barratt Planning Manager to Take Reins at Women in Property

Women in Property, a national influencing and networking membership organisation for the property and construction industry, is getting ready to welcome a new national chair. Jennifer Winyard, a senior strategic land and planning manager at Barratt Homes Yorkshire West, will begin at the start of next month, replacing Chithra Marsh. She has a 17-year affiliation with the organisation and has hopes to be able to continue to support those at the beginning of their careers as she has done locally.

The organisation, founded in 1987, has real national influence, sitting on the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Women in Work. One of its principal aims is to increase the number of women working in property and construction via school outreach projects and the National Student Awards. It also believes that "diverse culture provides a healthier, happier, more sustainable working and social environment".

Winyard said in a statement ahead of starting her one-year term: "There is still more to do to encourage more people, particularly girls and young women, to make it their future too. I want to help change mindsets and unlock the potential they offer. Encouraging girls to consider a career in property and construction has been a major focus for me, throughout my professional life. My lived experience of this industry highlights the fantastic scope it offers across all sectors."
