Houston's Economic Recovery Takes a Step Backwards, According to Latest Jobs Report

About 48,000 Local Jobs Were Lost in the Past Month

After five consecutive months of improving jobs numbers, Houston's unemployment rate rose 70 basis points in the past month and now stands at 8.3%, according to the Texas Workforce Commission. While the current unemployment rate is much lower than the high of more than 14% seen this past April, it signals how much the recovery decelerated during the winter months.
