Southern Land Co., a Nashville, Tennessee-based developer, has hired Jim Henry for a newly created role of executive vice president in charge of single-family projects.

Henry will direct the overall strategy of developing the 8,000 lots in the company's single-family portfolio, according to Southern Land. In addition, Henry will help grow SLC Homes, the in-house homebuilding arm that hopes to sell more than 300 properties a year. He is based in the company's Plano, Texas, office.

Southern Land's $3 billion pipeline includes Westhaven, a 3,500-home project in Franklin, Tennessee; and Westerly, a 3,100-home master-planned development in Erie, Colorado. Southern Land has projects in nine states, with regional offices in New York City, Philadelphia, Plano, Denver and Vallejo, California.

Prior to joining Southern Land, Henry worked for development firms including Discovery Land Co., Newland Communities, Republic Property Group and Bald Head Island Ltd. He supervised development projects, including Bald Head Island, a 2,000-acre luxury resort and master-planned development on a barrier island in North Carolina.

"His proven track record in developing large-scale, luxury communities will be instrumental in elevating our projects and enhancing the resident experience across all our single-family properties,” said Brian Sewell, president and chief operating officer, in a statement.
