Institutional investor TIAA-CREF has hired Eastdil Secured as the exclusive advisor to shop a pair of Class A office buildings totaling 368,224 square feet at 1940 and 2000 Duke Street near the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in Alexandria, VA. Both fully leased buildings were designed as headquarters build-to-suits in Alexandria's Carlyle district. The 212,889-square-foot building at 1940 Duke Street was constructed in 2003 for Oblon Spivak, a patent and trademark law firm, which will continue to maintain its headquarters in the building. The adjoining 2000 Duke Street, built in 1997 for Time-Life, now houses investor empowerment online community The Motley Fool. In addition to a location next to the 2.5-million-square-foot U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, the buildings are within walking distance of the King Street Metro Station.
