Unending growth has been the calling card for the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex for decades, and experts on the market say that growth is propelling it to the upper echelon of hotel markets around the country.
Speaking on the Hotel News Now podcast, Colin Sherman, CoStar's director of hospitality market analytics for Texas and Tennessee, said the entire Dallas-Fort Worth market and the submarkets it includes are "booming."
"It is the beast we all think it is," he said. "We're seeing a lot of development."
Several prominent hotel companies call the Metroplex home, including top hotel management firm Aimbridge Hospitality, the Ashford group of companies and Omni Hotels & Resorts.
CoStar News reporter Candace Carlisle said that in general is part of what sets Dallas apart, as it serves as "the business center" of Texas. What's changing, though, is its growing prominence as a high-end leisure travel market.
Growth is "not just like these limited-service hotels, either," she said. "We just got our first JW Marriott. We have a Four Seasons that's in the design phase. It's coming. We're told there's going to be a second Ritz-Carlton in the Dallas-Fort Worth region. And it just seems like the level of amenities and hospitality that's coming to the market is something that Dallas-Fort Worth has never really had before."
