Population Gains Slow in Atlanta, but Market Still One of the Nation’s Top for Growth

Region Grew at Twice the National Rate in the 2010s

The Atlanta area gained about 60,500 new residents in 2020, according to the latest data from the U.S. Census Bureau. That is down from the 75,800 people that moved to the area in 2019, but still enough to be one of the top metropolitan areas for nominal population growth in the country.
