The Kessler Collection announced Tuesday a $150 million-plus mixed-use village development that will include a boutique lodge, mountain cottages and luxury glamping cabins in Cashiers, North Carolina.

In a news release, the Kessler Collection, a portfolio of 12 boutique hotels, said the new development, Cashiers East Village, is expected to break ground in 2023. Its first phase is projected to be complete in 2025. Architect and town planner Christian Sottile is designing the project.

Along with its accommodations, the 24.5-acre development will include two full-service restaurants with a rooftop bar, a café, high-end shopping, art spaces, an event pavilion and a residential village with retail and a community center that will have commercial and retail space for local businesses and farmers. The community center, Cashiers Hall, will also host educational experiences by local farmers and community members focused on the region. One-third of the development area will be open for greenspace and parkland.

"Along with community members and key stakeholders we worked diligently with, I am thrilled for the Kessler Collection to bring a destination resort with art, music and culinary adventures to the mountain charm of Cashiers, North Carolina," said Mark Kessler, president and chief operating officer of the Kessler Collection, in the news release. "Everything we do is uniquely tailored to the community we are in, and the Kessler Collection plans to honor the existing landscape of Cashiers while providing an elevated resort experience."

The Cashiers East Village project will connect the expanded mixed-use village of the Ramble Greenway Trail and the Village Green, a 13.2-acre public park.

The project will be Kessler Collection’s sixth property in the Carolinas along with the Grand Bohemian Hotel Asheville, Grand Bohemian Hotel Charlotte, Grand Bohemian Hotel Charleston, Grand Bohemian Lodge Greenville expected in September 2022 and a historic restoration of the Elks Building in New Bern scheduled to open mid-2024.
