Marriott International announced an agreement with Vietnam’s Vinpearl to convert and develop eight hotels with nearly 2,200 rooms in Vietnam.

The deal with Vinpearl, a hospitality and leisure chain in Vietnam, will debut Marriott’s Autograph Collection brand in the country and expand the footprint of its Marriott, Sheraton Hotels & Resorts and Four Points by Sheraton brands.

"We are thrilled to be working with Vinpearl to accelerate our growth in Vietnam," said Rajeev Menon, President, Asia-Pacific, excluding Greater China, at Marriott International, in news release announcing the deal. "With the country's solid foundation for a resilient economy, and continuous growth of its infrastructure especially in the tourism sector, we are confident this collaboration will enable us to better cater to our guests' needs."

Marriott’s Vietnam portfolio presently includes 10 hotels and resorts, but it recently announced plans to significantly increase its presence with a signed pipeline of 30 hotels in addition to the hotels mentioned in the announcement Wednesday.

Vinpearl currently operates 35 hotels and resorts with more than 18,500 rooms and villas across 17 cities and provinces in Vietnam.

Of the eight hotels included in the deal, six are conversions that are expected to join Marriott’s system this year. The 223-key Vinpearl Luxury Landmark 81 will become Vietnam’s first Autograph Collection hotel. It’s a 461-meter tower on the banks of the Saigon River that will include three food and beverage outlets, 12 function spaces, a business center, spa, outdoor pool and fitness center.

The other conversions include:

  • the 200-key, 39-villa Danang Marriott Resort and Spa, currently the Vinpearl Luxury Danang.
  • the 500-key Sheraton Phu Quoc Long Beach Resort, currently the Vinpearl Phu Quoc Resort.
  • the 362-key Sheraton Hai Phong, currently the Vinpearl Hotel Imperial Hai Phong.
  • the 262-key Sheraton Can Tho, currently the Vinpearl Hotel Can Tho.
  • the 127-key Four Points by Sheraton Lang Son, currently the Vinpearl Hotel Lang Son.

The deal also includes two new-build hotels that are expected to open in 2025: the Sheraton Vinh and the Four Points by Sheraton Ha Giang.
