A group of interns for property developer and investor Hines kicked off their summer in boot camp in the Texas heat, but the only thing they were sweating was the numbers. Some three dozen participants were at the firm's Houston headquarters for analyst boot camp week, also known as ABC Week.

"Our Summer Analysts and Summer Associates had a great start to their internships by gathering in-person," Hines said in a LinkedIn post. They "learn from leadership about our culture and business before joining their teams across the country."

Across the country, commercial property companies are among those welcoming interns and giving them the chance to see what it's like to work in an industry and get some training.

As for Hines, it said its program offers interns "hands-on development and investment experience through interactions with teams specializing in all facets" of commercial property. The program offers two tracks, real estate development and investment management. Interns tour sites and take part in a community service day.

"I'm looking forward to connecting with real estate professionals and my peers who share the same interests in this industry, as well as the chance to learn about how a career in the industry can allow me to have a positive impact on my community," Jonathan Weaver, a Skyline Scholar from Howard University, said in a statement.
