IHG Hotels & Resorts has moved its global headquarters, but the home base of the global hotel brand company remains in the United Kingdom.
IHG CEO Keith Barr cut the official ribbon Wednesday on the hotel firm’s new, 57,000-square-foot headquarters, Windsor One, in Windsor, Berkshire. Windsor is also renowned for Windsor Castle, home to the British Royal Family.
Windsor One will also house the regional headquarters for IHG's Europe, Middle East, Asia and Africa division.
The company's move from Denham, Buckinghamshire — just north of London, whereas Windsor is just to the west on the River Thames — comes 20 years since the firm became publicly listed, when it previously based itself in Windsor.
Windsor is fewer than 10 miles from Denham.
At the opening, Barr said, “It was important for us as a company to move to a space that empowered us to work collaboratively, flexibly and in way that is truly reflective of today’s evolving workforce.
“What we have achieved at Windsor One, from the workspace design and digital capabilities to our connections with the local community, will make our already special company culture even more dynamic,” he added.
The space has a recording studio, as well as view of the castle and Eton College on the north side of the river.
IHG said building management is targeting the highest level of environmental consideration, with the goal of achieving gold LEED certification, which stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design.
IHG's global portfolio has 6,061 open hotels with a total of 888,147 guest rooms, and the company has a development pipeline of 1,853 hotels with 278,189 rooms.
Last May, German engineering firm Bosch bought the 97,223-square-foot Denham site, which, as with the Windsor site, IHG leased.
In 2021, IHG signed a lease for its new Windsor home, developed by Canmoor and Legal & General.
