Panattoni, one of the largest logistics real estate developers in Europe, signed a prelease agreement with Alliance Automotive Group, a leading distributor of passenger and commercial vehicle parts, for a 629,417-square-foot facility at Panattoni Park in the Yorkshire town of Rotherham, winning it a CoStar Impact Award.
AAG signed a 25-year lease for the facility, which will be one of the largest-ever speculative logistics buildings in the north of England. Construction of the facility, along with a smaller 80,000-square-foot unit, is due to be completed in August to a minimum BREEAM sustainability rating of Very Good and an Energy Performance Certificate rating of A.
“This will be a purpose-built, state-of-the-art facility, integrating best-in-class logistics operations with advanced technologies to put us at the forefront of aftermarket distribution,” said Steve Richardson, managing director, AAG.
About the project: Panattoni Park at Cumwell Lane, Rotherham, Yorkshire, is next to Junction 1 of the M18 motorway, with the 40-acre site bridging the last mile to the 1.4 million consumers of the Sheffield city region.
What the judges said: Rob Whatmuff, head of Leeds office, director, industrial and logistics, Colliers, said “the scale of the speculative development … attracted significant occupier interest prior to the build process completing and ultimately Alliance Automotive signing a long-term lease.”
They made it happen: Steve Richardson, managing director, AAG, and Dan Burn, head of development, North West and Yorkshire, Panattoni, oversaw the project’s development and lease signing.
