Nearly two decades of tracking and analyzing trends in commercial real estate has earned Liz Berthelette, head of research for Newmark's Northeast region and national life science group, some local recognition.

Berthelette made the 2025 list of Outstanding Women of Commercial Real Estate compiled by local media outlet The Boston Real Estate Times.

As a researcher and economist, Berthelette, who joined Newmark in July 2019, provides data on the life science market and tracks its supply-and-demand balance. She also tracks new construction, build-out costs, vacancies, investment sales activity and debt financing. Berthelette has participated in and seen how data has changed real estate decision-making this century.

“Over the last 20 years, real estate research has evolved from manual data collection and localized market insights to a technology-driven, globalized approach,” Berthelette told CoStar News.

She added that “the rise of big data, AI, and predictive analytics has transformed how investors, developers, and brokers assess market trends, risks, and opportunities. Additionally, the accessibility of market intelligence has increased, allowing for more strategic, data-backed decision-making across all sectors of real estate.”
