Mesa, Arizona, city leaders tonight are scheduled to consider a plan by search engine firm Google to build a $1 billion data center that could use as much as 4 million gallons of water a day, the latest proposal by technology giants and other developers to take advantage of the desert state's lucrative tax breaks for server farms.
