Northmarq bolsters Carolinas footprint

Northmarq established a new team in its Charlotte, North Carolina, office that will focus on private client multifamily investment sales, the firm said. It will be led by managing directors Eric Liebich and Ron Corrao, the brokerage said. Northmarq also said the team will handle investments for clients in North Carolina and South Carolina, working with existing regional brokers handling value-add building investments and land transactions geared to multifamily development.

Corrao joined Northmarq after serving as a partner at Capstone Companies, where he led the Carolina brokerage team, overseeing transactions totaling more than $4 billion. Liebich also previously worked at Capstone, where he handled a similar amount of transactions involving multifamily acquisitions and dispositions. The two will lead a team that also includes former Capstone brokers Scott Fuller, Matthew Weinstein and Dane Lozier as well as Dominic Bologna, who was previously with Bologna & Associates Manufactured Housing. 

Colliers boosts Phoenix multifamily services

Scott Knauer joined Colliers as a senior vice president in Phoenix, where he will serve as an institutional relationship manager within the brokerage and its national Cooke multifamily team, the firm said. Knauer previously co-founded Orion Residential, formed in collaboration with Starwood Capital, where he served as chief investment officer. He has directed the development, acquisition, management and divestment of properties valued at more than $5 billion. Knauer also worked previously in management roles at Pivotal Group in Phoenix and Starwood West, a Starwood Capital affiliate. In those roles, he contributed to the development of high-profile multifamily projects in Phoenix and nearby Scottsdale. 

Altman Logistics expands advisory board

Arden Karson (Altman Logistics)

Altman Logistics Properties, formerly known as BBX Logistics Properties, added industry veterans Andrea Jang and Arden Karson to its advisory board. Jang and Karson will consult on real estate technology and other areas of business development, the Fort Lauderdale, Florida-based developer of infill warehouses and other industrial properties said. Jang is founder and leader of consulting firm AJS Advisory. She previously served as chief operating officer of real estate capital advisory firm Ackman-Ziff and was a founding team member of JLL Spark, the brokerage's arm that invests in property technology startup companies. She also served previously as a senior vice president of corporate development at JLL and is currently a vice chair for the Urban Land Institute Technology and Real Estate Council.

Karson leads consulting firm Karson & Co. and previously served as CBRE’s senior managing director for South Florida. She also worked previously at development firm Related Group as senior vice president of acquisitions and development and had prior stints at Advenir Real Estate, LNR Property, Barrow Street Capital and Lennar. 

Graystone enhances California leadership team

Richard Bird joined Graystone Capital Advisors as an executive vice president and will focus on investment properties, including self-storage facilities and infill development land sales in Southern California, the Newport Beach-based company said. Bird is a 20-year industry veteran who has overseen more than $10 billion in transactions. He started his career as a sales agent at Marcus & Millichap in Salt Lake City, where he handled multifamily investment sales in Utah and Idaho.

Bird later joined the senior management team at Marcus and oversaw operations in Denver, Salt Lake City, Las Vegas and Boise, Idaho. He also served as national director of the brokerage's self-storage group. Bird co-founded TYG Commercial Real Estate after his work at Marcus, serving as principal broker and spearheading operations across several western states. 

Portman broadens apartment investments

Sean Henry (Portman Holdings)

National developer Portman Holdings hired Sean Henry as a senior vice president to lead a new venture focused on acquiring multifamily properties, the Atlanta-based company said. Henry is a 20-year industry veteran who had led transactions with a total value surpassing $6 billion. He will spearhead Portman’s investment plans targeting 200 apartment units in key markets across the Southeast, Texas and Florida that demonstrate long-term population, job and income growth, according to the firm.

Henry previously served as chief investment officer for LMS Investment Management and held prior leadership roles at CrowdStreet, Capstone, Moran & Co. and Apartment Realty Advisors. Portman has developed more than 20,000 residential units in Atlanta, Nashville, Tennessee and Charlotte, North Carolina.
