Employment growth is more distributed these days

The five years since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent economic disruption intensified the southward and westward movement of the United States labor market. Over the past year, however, a handful of states in seemingly moribund regions have seen substantial recoveries, while most post-pandemic winners have seen job growth slow.
