Daisy Narayan MBE has joined The Crown Estate as public realm director.

Narayan is an architect and urban designer, who has worked across various sectors and disciplines including public realm, sustainable transport, design, placemaking and climate action over the past two decades.

She has worked in Singapore, the US, London and Edinburgh over the course of her career, and joins The Crown Estate after being head of placemaking and mobility at the City of Edinburgh Council.

In that role, she led the development and delivery of a city-wide integrated approach to transport planning and placemaking. Before this, she worked as director of urbanism for sustainable transport charity, Sustrans.

Narayan also sits on the Board of Architecture and Design Scotland, contributes to the evidence group of Scotland’s Climate Assembly, and participates in the judging panel for both the Scottish and National Transport Awards.

Her commitment to inclusive urban planning was recognised with an MBE in 2022.

Kristy Lansdown, head of development at The Crown Estate, said in a statement: "As we continue to shape the public spaces across our portfolio, Daisy is a fantastic addition to our team at The Crown Estate.

"She brings a wealth of experience across many different sectors, and will help us shape and deliver sustainable, resilient and inclusive places and public realm for the benefit of future generations."
