Indian hotel firm Signum Hotels & Resorts has signed an agreement with Wyndham Hotels & Resorts to operate 5,000 rooms over the next five years under Wyndham flag Trademark Collection.
The hotels will be in India, the United Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates, the three most key markets for Indian travelers.
The UK has 200 years of trading, colonial and diaspora links with India, while the UAE is set to be the key market capitalizing from the surge in outbound Indian travel.
At last week’s Hotel Industry Development Event conference in London, Wyndham’s president, Europe, the Middle East and Asia, Dimitris Manikis said: “India is an enormously important market. The Chinese might travel to Southeast Asia, but Indians, they will travel to the UAE and Europe.”
All Signum hotels opened under the arrangement will be managed by the Indian firm, which is based in Faridabad, just south of New Delhi.
In a press release, Mehul Sharma, Signum’s founder and chief executive, said the partnership “marks a significant milestone for Signum as we take a major step forward in strengthening our presence across India, the UK, and the UAE. … This collaboration further solidifies our commitment to expanding our footprint and delivering exceptional hospitality experiences.”
Signum has 12 hotels in India, 50 serviced apartments in the UAE and more than 850 serviced apartments in 39 UK destinations.
Wyndham has approximately 9,200 hotels and 893,000 rooms in 95 countries.
One recent opening under the Trademark Collection brand was the 51-room Boreas Hotel, Trademark Collection by Wyndham in Ankara, Turkey, owned by Turkish firm Boreas Gayrimenkul.
One of the hotels Signum opened last year was the 15-cottage Signum Jamboree Creek Resort in Mandrem, Goa.
In early February, Wyndham announced it would also expand its Trademark Collection brand with another 17 hotels, according to a social-media post from Wyndham.
A partnership with German owner HR Group will see those properties and a further eight that will join Wyndham’s Vienna House brand open in Austria, Germany and The Netherlands.
Wyndham acquired Vienna House in 2022 for $44 million. At the time, it was Wyndham’s 23rd brand and added approximately 40 hotels and 6,000 rooms.
