Munson Promoted to President of TRS in Minneapolis
Transwestern has named a new president of Transwestern Real Estate Services as the Houston-based, global commercial real estate firm moves to expand its companies across the U.S. and abroad.
In his new role as president of Transwestern Real Estate Services, Greg Munson will oversee TRS operations, lead expansion opportunities in strategic markets and drive business development, according to the firm. He is based in the company's Minneapolis office.
Munson will succeed former TRS President Tom Lawyer, who joined Transwestern in 2018 and will be retiring after 45 years in the industry. Under Lawyer's leadership through the pandemic, TRS continued to grow operations and expand headcount. Lawyer will remain with Transwestern through 2023.
"One of my primary objectives when I joined Transwestern was to find the next leader for our services organization and orchestrate a well-planned and orderly changing of the guard," Lawyer said in a statement announcing the move. "Greg and I have worked side by side over the last two years, and I am confident we have found the right next-generation leader for TRS."
Munson had served as executive managing director for the firm's Midwest region since 2021, overseeing offices in Illinois, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan and Iowa. Since joining the firm in 2016 as managing principal and market leader in Minneapolis, he has assumed increasing leadership responsibilities and currently sits on Transwestern's board of directors and executive committee.
During Munson's tenure, Transwestern completed one of downtown Minneapolis' most notable retail-to-office transformations, recruited one of the region's leading retail teams and attracted new talent to the Midwest capital markets team. Last year, Lawyer and Munson led the firm through the acquisition and integration of Chicago-based MB Real Estate, which saw the addition of 120 team members and a regional property management portfolio topping 12 million square feet.
Before joining Transwestern, Munson worked as executive vice president of development and risk management at McGough Cos., according to his LinkedIn profile. Munson holds a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Minnesota Law School and a bachelor's degree from Gustavus Adolphus College.
