Pebblebrook Hotel Trust announced Tuesday that its 189-room LaPlaya Beach Resort & Club in Naples, Florida, will remain closed until there is a full assessment of damages to the property, the company said in a news release. The luxury resort was initially closed Sept. 27 after a mandatory evacuation order due to Hurricane Ian.
Pebblebrook and Noble House Hotels & Resorts, the property’s operator, are working to assess the property and damages. According to the release, Pebblebrook doesn’t expect the cost of repairs to be material.
“We thank our management teams and associates at each of our properties impacted by Hurricane Ian who have done a terrific job protecting our guests and associates, with no injuries sustained, and mitigating further property damage,” said Jon Bortz, chairman, president and CEO of Pebblebrook. “Our thoughts are with the countless people and communities that have been impacted by this devastating storm."
Another Pebblebrook property, the 119-room Inn on Fifth in Naples, was also closed on Sept. 27 but reopened on Oct. 1. The company’s five other hotels in Florida and Georgia that were affected by the hurricane are open. Costs to repair any property damage at these hotels will not be material, the news release said.
