The Society of Industrial and Office Realtors, one of the largest commercial real estate industry groups, has elected a new slate of officers headed by David Lockwood, who takes over as the group's global president.

Lockwood is executive vice president and chief operating officer of Colliers South Carolina. He will start his tenure as SIOR's 2023-24 president before the association's fall meeting set for Oct. 11-14 in Chicago. He attained the SIOR designation in 1990. It signifies that a broker has reached a superior level of competence and success while adhering to high standards.

Saadia Sheikh (SIOR)

SIOR elected its slate of 2023-24 officers at its spring meeting in Montreal. The incoming officers include Saadia Sheikh, an office specialist with JLL in New York, who would be the youngest woman to serve as the group's vice president. After serving in that position for a year, Sheikh would be in line to move up to president-elect in late 2024 and SIOR president in the fall of 2025.

Current SIOR Vice President Mike Ohmes, managing principal of Cushman & Wakefield's Minneapolis-St. Paul office, is set to take Lockwood's place as president-elect.

SIOR members who were elected to serve two-year terms on its board of directors as members-at-large include Amy Broadhurst, an industrial specialist in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, Bruce Hecht, an office broker in Dallas and Daniel Smolensky, an industrial broker in Chicago.

J.R. Steinbauer Jr., will serve a two-year term as speaker of the Chapter Leadership Council and James P. "Tripp" Guin III, will serve a two-year term as speaker-elect.
