Multifamily developer Mill Creek Residential broke ground on a 369-unit apartment project in the Seattle suburb of Kirkland.
The project, called Modera Bridle Trails, is slated to open at 13033 NE 70th Place, a half-mile north of the 482-acre Bridle Trails State Park in the greater Seattle Eastside suburb, in late 2026, according to a statement from Mill Creek, based in Boca Raton, Florida.
Real estate developers are still breaking ground on multifamily projects across greater Seattle at a robust rate, although the number of starts is down this year compared with 2023 and 2022 in the region, according to a CoStar Market Analytics report.
In Kirkland, 930 units are under construction, representing an 8.5% increase over the existing inventory once all the units are built, according to the report.
Modera Bridle Trails will be 10 miles east of downtown Seattle and is near key Eastside locales such as downtown Kirkland, Redmond, Bellevue, Overlake and the Spring District. The project is pursuing Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Platinum status, the highest level of LEED certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.
Expansion by such tech companies as Google and Amazon has sharpened interest among developers as well as renters that want to live close to where they work, Mill Creek Residential Managing Director for Development Meredith Holzemer said in the statement.
“The maturation of young technology workers who flocked to the Puget Sound region during the Amazon boom of the 2010s gives the area a strong foundation, and the ongoing popularity of hybrid work-from-home arrangements enables employees to be more selective about where they live,” Holzemer added.
The project is within a 10-minute drive of both Facebook and Amazon’s Bellevue campuses, as well as Google’s two Kirkland complexes and Microsoft's headquarters in Redmond.
The project will include studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom units with an average size of 920 square feet. The development is also slated to include a rooftop deck, grilling area, landscaped courtyards, a clubhouse and game room, bocce ball court and a coworking area for remote workers.
