Marriott International on Wednesday launched Apartments by Marriott Bonvoy, the company’s expansion into apartment-style accommodations, according to a news release. The new brand will be in the upper-upscale and luxury segments and differ from Marriott’s existing extended-stay brands.
Stephanie Linnartz, president of Marriott International, said in the release Apartments by Marriott Bonvoy will give guests “a wider array of accommodation options.”
“Travelers planning vacations and long business trips today are seeking more choice in accommodations, and the introduction of Apartments by Marriott Bonvoy responds to those trends while offering developers a premium product backed by our trusted name and distribution platform,” she said.
This will be Marriott’s first foray into apartments in the U.S. and Canada, but the second overall apartment brand in its portfolio along with the existing Marriott Executive Apartments brand in Asia, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America.
Apartments by Marriott Bonvoy will have a separate living room and bedroom and come furnished with a full kitchen and in-unit washer and dryer. Differing from its extended-stay brands, the new brand will be without food and beverage, meeting spaces and retail, the news release said. The design approach will be similar to Marriott’s Autograph Collection and Tribute Portfolio brands.
