A generational piece of land in Powell, Ohio, which was family-owned for more than 100 years and used to raise sheep is set to become a city park.
The Powell City Council is undertaking a comprehensive study of the 32-acre Bennett Farm property, more than 32 acres west of Olentangy River Road next to Arbor Ridge Park. The land is on the south side of State Route 750 between State Route 315 and Liberty Road.
The land has potential to enhance the city’s park system and provide critical trail connectivity along Powell Road.
The Bennett family was approached countless times to sell the property and had declined to do so for the last 20 years.
The Robert Weiler Co. eventually ended up winning the listing. The tract of 32 acres will reshape the city of Powell, according to the firm.
About the project: The Bennett Farm is one of the last remaining large tracts of land for development in Powell.
What the judges said: “Careful and progressive redevelopments in Powell like this one are both tricky and necessary to facilitate ordered growth in the area," said David Dean, senior brokerage administrator at Equity.
They made it happen: Brian Speert, sales and leasing agent for listing broker the Robert Weiler Co.
