Hampton by Hilton leads the pack among hotel brands in terms of properties in construction, according to data from CoStar's hospitality analytics firm STR. Hampton had 105,680 rooms in 734 hotels in its global pipeline as of Dec. 1, 2021. IHG Hotels & Resorts' Holiday Inn Express brand sits in second place by both of those measures with 92,208 rooms and 703 hotels.
Among publicly traded hotel branding companies, Marriott International led the pack as of the end of the third quarter of 2021. In a compilation of select companies based on self-reported data from third quarter earnings reports, Marriott had roughly 477,000 rooms in its global portfolio, followed by Hilton with 404,000 rooms.
