Affordable housing developer Dolphin Living has appointed Matthew Lamb development director from rivals Pocket Living.

Lamb will oversee the development strategy of the business, focusing on the delivery of affordable high-quality homes, according to Dolphin.

He was responsible for the planning and delivery of Pocket Living's "one bed one person discount market sale housing" and its first major built-to-rent scheme, Atlas Wharf, in North West London.

The recruit has around 20 years' experience in the residential sector, having also worked for BTR developer Essential Living, and for CBRE in its project management team.

Olivia Harris, chief executive of Dolphin Living, said in a statement: "Matthew’s experience in the affordable and rental sectors will be invaluable as we progress our mission of building more high-quality, affordable homes for the city’s critical workers near to their places of work.

"It is clear that his guidance and insight will be instrumental in supporting the team to build upon their excellent work to date."

Harris recently welcomed the government's commitment to building more homes of all tenures through reform of the planning process in the King's Speech last month.

But she argued that local authorities should be "given a duty to have regards to the wider needs of the community" when considering planning applications.
