Great Lakes Cheese, a family-owned cheese manufacturer, is planning to build its first plant in Texas and ninth in the country. The proposed packaging and distribution hub in Abilene, Texas, which is about 150 miles west of downtown Fort Worth, is expected to employ 510 workers with an average salary of $60,000.
