San Diego's unemployment rate hits three-year high

More people join workforce in region

San Diego, California's unemployment rate edged up to 5% in August, according to the latest jobs report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. That was the highest level since October 2021, and it compares to California’s statewide rate of 5.9%. Last August, San Diego’s unemployment rate was 4.4%.
