Alternative investment firm Blackwells Capital and its affiliates made an unsolicited offer to buy the portion of industrial property owner Monmouth Real Estate Investment Corp. it doesn't already own for about $1.76 billion in cash in a bet the company could be more profitable if it were taken private.
