Former CBRE vice chairman and star representation broker Jeff Ellerman is taking his four decades of experience — along with his son, who also worked at CBRE for more than a decade — to rival Stream Realty Partners in a move further bolstering the national real estate services firm.
In shifting to the Dallas-based national brokerage, Jeff Ellerman is set to serve as executive vice chairman and his son, John, will take on the role of executive vice president. T
It comes on the heels of Stream Realty Partners naming Craig Wilson as co-head of the firm's national office occupier business in September after he and Randy Cooper, now a partner at Stream Realty Partners, left Cushman & Wakefield to join Stream in 2020. The two brokers followed Dan Harris, who departed Cushman & Wakefield in 2019, to join Stream Realty Partners and launch its office tenant representation platform.
Other Dallas office tenant representation brokers have followed in the footsteps of the growing group.
"We have long admired the Stream platform, the great people they have recruited to join their team, and the way they conduct their business," Jeff Ellerman told CoStar News. "Specifically, we have known and competed against Dan Harris, Randy Cooper and Craig Wilson for many years and partnered with Peery Wood and Chris Sido at CBRE. Now we're all wearing the same jersey!"
In Jeff Ellerman's longtime career, he last served as vice chairman at CBRE and negotiated more than 50 million square feet of office transactions valued at more than $30 billion. His experience spans headquarters relocations, office tenant representation and strategic financial consulting. His son, John, brings over 12 years of experience to Stream Realty, most of which was with CBRE, where he served as an executive vice president. He is one of the most active real estate brokers representing some of the largest office tenants in the Dallas-Fort Worth region, according to in-market reports.
Chris Jackson, president and CEO of Stream Realty Partners, said in a statement their experience and industry reputation will help elevate the team.
Cooper, now a partner at Stream Realty, said the addition of Jeff and John Ellerman will help the firm as it expands its office tenant representation platform throughout the United States.
For the Ellerman team, the Stream platform aligned with the needs of the two broker's clients and offers the duo the ability to win and execute business at the highest level, the pair said. Still, challenges remain in the office sector.
"Like all markets, the Dallas-Fort Worth [region] has a significant amount of dated, functionally obsolete buildings that haven't been updated or renovated and will likely never be worth what they once were," John Ellerman said. "Also, although almost all of the blue-chip users are back in the office full time and are gravitating to the best sponsored, located, and amenitized space, a large percentage of the corporate back office users are still not back in the office and need to change for the office market to get healthy."
