Cushman & Wakefield names director in South Texas
Carlos Marquez joined Cushman & Wakefield as a senior director, bringing his experience in the industrial market in South Texas and across the border in Mexico to the brokerage. Over the past two decades, he has closed leasing and sales transactions with an aggregate value of more than $500 million, the company said.
“He’s a tremendous addition to our Texas industrial advisory team,” Cushman & Wakefield Texas managing principal Chris Hipps said. Marquez was previously at Partners Real Estate. Earlier in his career he worked at CBRE and IDI Gazeley; in the latter role, he oversaw day-to-day leasing and marketing of the company’s industrial portfolio in South Texas and Reynosa, Mexico.
Banner hires three for industrial team
Banner Real Estate Group chose Mark Bowen as president of its new affiliate Banner Industrial Properties. His role includes executive leadership, investment sourcing, operations, and overall strategy.
Also new to the industrial team is Dan Morrison, who will serve as chief financial officer with oversight of fundraising and capital markets activity. Scott Blanding rounds out the new affiliate's leadership hires as chief operating officer. Banner Real Estate has assembled an experienced team to lead Banner Industrial Properties, "each with decades of experience in industrial investment as well as across all sectors of commercial real estate,” said Bob Flannery, the parent company’s CEO, said in a statement. Banner Industrial will initially focus on properties in the Western United States. Bowen has also worked at Dalfen Industrial, DCT Industrial Trust, Laramar Group and GE Capital. Morrison comes to Banner from TradeLane Properties, while Blanding worked with Viking Partners and DCT.
Stirling looks to New Orleans growth
John Woodard was promoted to vice president at Stirling. He will lead the commercial real estate firm's New Orleans office, with a focus on expanding the company’s business development efforts across the region. “His leadership has been invaluable to Stirling’s continued success,” said Townsend Underhill, president and CEO, in a statement about Woodard.
Woodward joined Stirling in 2020 as development and asset management director and led Stirling’s first foray into build-to-rent communities. Woodard also managed development of the company’s corporate headquarters in Covington, Louisiana. His previous roles included serving as an aide to Congressman Steve Scalise and as White House liaison and special adviser at the U.S. Small Business Administration.
Transwestern appoints regional leader
Katie Benefield signed on at Transwestern Real Estate Services as regional operating officer for the central United States. Based in Minneapolis, she will identify best practices and ways to operate more efficiently across the organization, TRES said.
Benefield can "make connections and advance initiatives in a manner that benefits all stakeholders,” said Greg Munson, Transwestern president, in a statement. Benefield previously held several roles at CBRE, including capital markets operations manager, Colorado sales director, and managing director of national capital markets. She has served as a committee chair for both the Urban Land Institute Young Leaders Group and NAIOP’s Rocky Mountain Real Estate Challenge. Also, the company named two employees last month to similar regional oversight roles. Kristine Maggio was appointed in the East region and Perry Degulis in the West.
Walker & Dunlop adds hospitality director
Jay Morrow joined Walker & Dunlop as a senior managing director in its New York office, marking the company’s strategic move to add hospitality investment sales to business lines. He specializes in hotel and resort property transactions throughout North America. Morrow's "deep knowledge of the hospitality industry, transaction track record, and leadership capabilities make him the perfect person to lead this expansion for our company," Walker & Dunlop chairman and CEO Willy Walker said in a statement. Morrow previously spent 15 years at Hodges Ward Elliott, leading the firm’s New York City hotel team and completing more than $20 billion in transactions.
