When scores of tech-savvy brokers and other commercial real estate pros gathered this month in New Orleans, they didn't squander the opportunity to be social.

Attendees of the Commercial Real Estate Influencers' second CREi Summit took to Twitter, Instagram and other social channels to share their experiences at the two-day conference in the Big Easy.

During one panel, Foundry Commercial broker Melissa Alexander urged her peers to use QR codes that store website addresses and other information that can be read by smartphone cameras when marketing commercial space.

Alexander’s comments about QR codes caught the attention of Rochester, Minnesota-based broker Bucky Beeman. “I need to start utilizing them as they can help with sharing of property info quickly,” Beeman said in a tweet from the show.

Iryna Iryk, a vice president at Metro Commercial in the Philadelphia area, said the summit was worth the trip, calling it "super informative and fun" in a text message.

The summit included motivational speakers and several sessions on how to leverage social media channels to advance in the industry. Ken Ashley, the Atlanta-based Cushman & Wakefield broker who founded CREi and the event, said his team already is planning the 2023 CREi Summit, though he wouldn't yet disclose the host city.
