JLL Atlanta showed up in force to support the LGBTQ community during the Atlanta Pride Festival this month.
Tim McCarthy, the Atlanta regional market director who oversees the brokerage in Georgia, Alabama and Tennessee, joined the Pride festivities based at Piedmont Park in Midtown. JLL supplied participants, about 45 in all including employees and their family members, with T-shirts in an assortment of colors similar to the rainbow found on pride flags.
McCarthy said the brokerage takes pride in supporting the LGBTQ people of Atlanta. “It’s what JLL does in the ATL. We want to do what we can to be part of the community," he said in an interview.
Days after the Atlanta Pride Festival, JLL's Building Pride group asked employees to share their experiences associated with coming out and what it meant in their professional and personal lives. Oct. 11 was National Coming Out Day.
"The response was overwhelming," Patricia Raicht, a JLL senior research and incoming national Building Pride lead, said in a LinkedIn post. "Visibility is the most powerful antidote to homophobia and outdated ideas about our community."
