If you live in a Carroll apartment and hear neighbors singing in the unit next to you, they might not merely be trying to annoy you. They could be practicing for a shot to win a national competition.
Atlanta-based Carroll recently launched Sounds of Summer, a singing contest for people who live in any of its Arium apartments across the country. Each week through Aug. 10, residents sing their hearts out on a Facebook Live show hosted by Nashville, Tennessee, musician Dave Fenley, pictured, in hopes of making the semifinals on Aug. 24.
Five finalists are to be chosen for the in-person finale Sept. 14 at the Variety Playhouse in Atlanta, where they'll join former "American Idol" and "The Voice" performers. Sounds of Summer contestants will have a chance to win free rent and cash prizes.
"We wanted to run a brand campaign [for Arium] that would allow us to produce a large volume of content over a short period of time to reach as many as possible," Noah Echols, Carroll's senior vice president of marketing and customer experience, said in an email. "We are leveraging user-generated content, partnering with high profile artists, and producing content with the goal of reaching 2 million people."
Carroll's Sounds of Summer marks the second time it's held a portfolio-wide competition for its Arium residents. Early on during the pandemic, it hosted an online competition called Arium Idol "to foster a sense of togetherness for its residents during lockdown," the apartment company said.
You can catch the next episode of Sounds of Summer at 6:30 p.m. EDT on Wednesday on Arium Living's Facebook page.
