Scandinavia’s First Zero-Energy Hotel

Swedish firm Fabege has agreed to a 10-year loan with Nordic Choice Hotels worth 432.5 million Swedish krona ($38.1 million) to develop Scandinavia’s first zero-energy hotel in Solna, Sweden, a suburb of Stockholm.

Portugal's Hotel California

Arrow Global Portugal has bought the Hotel California in Algarve, Portugal, from Details Hotels & Resorts. The hotel was recently renovated in 2019.

IntercityHotel Herford, Frankfurt

Deutsche Hospitality opened the 135-room IntercityHotel Herford in Frankfurt on October 4 in collaboration with Scoop Hotels.

Voco Brussels City North

IHG Hotels & Resorts has announced it will open the 92-room Voco Brussels City North in the third quarter of 2023. The property's operator will be the Prem Group.

RBH To Manage Three Covivio Hotels

French real estate investment trust Covivio has chosen Scottish firm RBH Hospitality Management to operate three upscale properties in England. The properties are the 155-room Principal York, an IHG brand; 120-room Met Hotel Leeds, in the same county of Yorkshire; and 111-room Wotton House Country Estate Hotel, near Dorking, Surrey. The Wotton House is more than 400 years and was once home to noted botanist, writer and diarist John Evelyn.

Zleep Hotel Leipzig

Deutsche Hospitality has announced the 150-room Zleep Hotel Leipzig, Germany, which will open in 2024.

Premier Inn Rostock, Germany

Whitbread PLC will open the 200-room Premier Inn Rostock, Germany in 2025, in partnership with owner and developer Randalswood Germany, which is part of Ireland-based McGrath Group.

Marriott To Debut Fairfield Brand in EMEA

Marriott International will debut its Fairfield by Marriott brand in both Europe and the Middle East, with six assets starting to open from late 2023. The properties will be

  • the 234-room Fairfield by Marriott Copenhagen North Harbour, Denmark, in a building to be dual-branded with an 81-room Residence Inn by Marriott.
  • the 175-room Fairfield by Marriott Amsterdam Schiphol Airport.
  • the 123-room Fairfield by Marriott Zug, Switzerland.
  • the 191-room Fairfield by Marriott Bordeaux Train Station.
  • the 2,600-room Fairfield by Marriott Makkah Al Naseem, Saudi Arabia.
  • the 1,376-room Fairfield by Marriott Makkah Ibrahim Al Khalil Road.

Dornoch Hotel, Scotland

Adventurous Journeys Capital Partners has acquired the 122-room Dornoch Hotel in Dornoch, Scotland, and is handing over management to Marine & Lawn Hotels & Resorts.

Edyn Debuts Locke in France

Edyn will debut its Locke brand in France in the second half of 2024 with a 145-room aparthotel, which will be located in an 18th Century building in Paris’ 5th Arrondissement, also konwn as the Latin Quarter.

Sun Street Hotel, London

Later this month, owner and developer MTD Group will open its first U.K. property: the luxury, 41-room Sun Street Hotel in London. The asset will open in a location on the edge of Shoreditch and the City of London — in the One Crown Place development — and will be managed by Bespoke Hotels.

DoubleTree by Hilton Bath, England

Swedish hotel owner Pandox has bought the 176-room Doubletree by Hilton Bath in the spa town of Bath, England, for 40 million pounds sterling ($43 million). The owner is Axiom Hospitality, the seller is a controlled affiliate of Starwood Capital Group, and Pandox said it expects the hotel to generate a stabilized yield of approximately 7.5%.
