Population Growth Returns to Urban Atlanta

Population growth picked up in Atlanta in 2022. As suburban counties continued to grow, domestic migration spread outward into exurban counties and most noticeably back into urban counties, such as Fulton and DeKalb. These two counties recovered some losses from the height of the pandemic, according to the most recent population estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau.
