Expiring Benefits May Spell Trouble Ahead

Landlords have reported strong rent collections throughout the lockdown, with nine out of 10 renter households making full or partial payments. While millions of renters have lost their jobs, fiscal stimulus, including expanded unemployment benefits and direct payments to households, is bridging the gap. Further assistance may be needed, though, as many will still be out of work when benefits expire at the end of July.
