Divine intervention threatens luxury City hotel plans

One of Asia’s largest hotel groups has garnered support from the City Corporation to convert an outdated office block on Aldgate High Street into a 275-bed four-star hotel, despite objections from neighbouring St Botolph’s Church.

Ahead of next week’s Planning & Transportation Committee meeting, City planning officer Peter Rees has recommended for approval Hong Kong-based Dorsett Hospitality International’s plans to redevelop the existing Matrix building at 9-13 Aldgate High Street, EC3, into a 104,786 sq ft, 13-storey luxury hotel.
