Marcus & Millichap's IPA Capital Markets has hired a new senior managing director in its Toronto office as the United States brokerage looks to grow its business in Canada.
Marcus & Millichap said real estate finance veteran Onorio Lucchese joined IPA, the firm's division that specializes in providing capital markets services to major private and institutional clients.
Lucchese will be responsible for capital raising, facilitating cross-border transactions, representing Canadian investors seeking to invest in the United States and assisting international investors in finding real estate opportunities across Canada, Calabasas, California-based Marcus & Millichap said.
"With his extensive background and strong relationships established over many years, Onorio will further the firm's continued growth in Canada and enhance our presence in the North American capital markets," said Evan Denner, executive vice president and head of business with Marcus & Millichap Capital Corp., in a statement.
Lucchese has two decades of experience in real estate finance including work in investment banking, strategic advisory, mergers and acquisitions and the placement of equity and debt financing for companies in public and private sectors. He completed deals involving several asset classes including multifamily, industrial, retail, office, self-storage and hospitality.
Before joining IPA, Lucchese served as a senior investment banker at Raymond James and held senior positions with Brookfield Financial, BMO Capital Markets, and TD Securities.
He has been involved in over $20 billion in real estate transactions throughout his career.
