Aldi stages coup over Lidl Kingston store

A turf war has broken out between the German discounters after Aldi ousted its rival Lidl from a prime site at Kingston upon Thames.

Aldi has taken advantage of a break clause in Lidl’s lease to negotiate a new deal with the landlord that will see it pay £330,000 per year in rent, with fixed uplifts.
