The U.S. hotel industry is seemingly ending the year on a positive note, giving hoteliers a good chance to take stock of what they're grateful for this holiday season.

On the newest episode of the Hotel News Now podcast, CoStar's Emmy Hise said hoteliers are encouraged by the trajectory of interest rates, even if they're still holding off on doing deals.

"It's [moving] in the right direction," she said. "I think people are still waiting to be active."

Other things on hoteliers potential list of things to be thankful for are:

  • The end of U.S. election season and the clarity that provides.
  • A widescale return of industry events.
  • Decreasing inflation.
  • A normalizing demand environment and a continued love for travel.

"One thing I'm thankful for is people still love to travel, and I don't think that's going to change," Hise said.
