A Fort Myers industrial park may become a construction supply hub as a new national wholesaler has moved into the area, poised to help drive the region’s continued growth.

Lansing Building Products, a Richmond, Virginia-based construction supplies wholesaler, moved into a new 66,017-square-foot space at 9381 Laredo Ave. at the Suncoast Commerce Center, an 884,000-square-foot industrial site in Fort Myers, Florida.

Lee & Associates represented the owner in the transaction. Lansing Building Products was represented by Cushman & Wakefield Commercial Property Southwest Florida in the lease.

Thanks to its size and significance of the industry to the region, the deal was selected for a 2024 CoStar Impact Award for lease of the year for Southwest Florida by a panel of independent judges familiar with the local market.

The move is set to establish Lansing’s presence as a key player in Southwest Florida’s construction sector, with judges noting the “potential local impacts of the company’s operations” given the region’s growth, despite the challenges presented by hurricanes in 2022 and 2023.

Suncoast Commerce Center was developed by EastGroup Properties and opened earlier this year. The property is less than a mile away from Interstate 75, connecting the area to Tampa Bay about 130 miles north and South Florida a similar distance west.

Lansing operates over 112 locations across 35 states. The company has over 1,900 employees and joins Ally Building Solutions as a tenant at the industrial site owned by EastGroup Properties.

About the Project: Suncoast Commerce Center was developed by EastGroup Properties. The industrial center offers 884,000 square feet of space and was completed in 2023.

What the Judges Said: “A 66,000+ SF lease in Southwest Florida is very significant," said Patrick Fraley, principal of Investment Properties Corp.

They Made It Happen: Derek Bornhorst, principal at Lee & Associates; Jerry Messonier, principal at Lee & Associates; Robert Johnston, industrial specialist at Lee & Associates; and Adam Bornhorst, a vice president of commercial real estate at Lee & Associates, represented EastGroup Properties. Gary Tasman, CEO of Cushman & Wakefield Commercial Property Southwest Florida, and Shawn Stoneburner, a senior director of Cushman & Wakefield Commercial Property Southwest Florida, represented Lansing Building Products.
