Henderson Park, the private real estate investment fund manager, has appointed Bob Lee as a managing director and global general counsel, overseeing all legal, regulatory and compliance matters globally.

The firm has said Lee's hire is in line with its international growth strategy, which has seen the firm expand from its formation in London in 2016 to having a team of 90 professionals across six offices, and managing over $13 billion of real estate.

Lee arrives from global law firm Jones Day after almost 30 years as a partner, including the last 18 years as global co-chair of real estate. He has advised on more than $40 billion of real estate private equity capital formations and joint ventures.

He has also been involved in more than $25 billion of real estate portfolio transactions and real estate company and investment trust mergers and acquisitions in the United States, UK, Europe and Asia.

Lee will be based in the US and is said to already have an "in-depth existing relationship" with the firm, having previously advised on the set up and structuring of both the firm and its first fund, Henderson Park Real Estate Fund I. He will also sit on the firm's investment and executive committees.

Nick Weber, CEO and founder of Henderson Park, said in a statement: "With the continued growth and internationalisation of Henderson Park, we recognised the importance of hiring a senior executive with responsibility for all our legal, compliance and governance activity globally.

"I have worked with and known Bob for many years, and know that his inherent knowledge, international experience and affiliation with Henderson Park makes him the best legal team leader to take on this role.

"He has considerable experience across all facets of the real estate industry, where he is a well-respected and senior figure working in both private equity and public markets."
