The Other House has unveiled its initial plans to redevelop the former Belgravia Police Station office building on Buckingham Palace Road in London's Victoria as a luxury residents' club.

The Mayor's Office for Policing and Crime, part of the Metropolitan Police, sold the freehold in at 202-206 Buckingham Palace Road to The Other House business last June for around £32 million for its third location.

The property was deemed surplus to requirements by the Metropolitan Police and was included with the "disposal of and marketing for sale of a number of surplus sites in order to generate capital receipts to support the future capital investment programme and reduce running costs".

Located on a 0.61 acre site, the existing building is arranged over basement, ground and three upper floors comprising 32,698 square feet. The site also includes 58 parking spaces.

The Other House, advised by Concillio, has begun consulting on plans to redevelop the site as a luxury residents' clubs offering flexible stay accommodation with access to hotel-style services and club facilities. It says the building will be a ‘second home’ for guests and a new hub for locals.

The Other House describes itself as a "residents’ club for people going places". It adds: "We give people somewhere they can call 'home' for as long as they are in town and give them the opportunity to make the place their own. High-quality design and facilities leave an impression on our residents and members. From British craftmanship to low-carbon architecture, sustainability is at the heart of the house."

Detailed plans for the new building are still being prepared, but it is exploring options to increase the height of the building. Many of the new facilities will be available for public use, and more will be available for those who join as members of the club. The ground floor include restaurants and bars and will be accessible to the public, while spa and wellness facilities, including a pool, will be accessible to members.

The site is situated at the edge of Belgravia fronting Ebury Square, Semley Place and Buckingham Palace Road.

The Other House said the existing building, as a former Police Station, acts like a fortress, with a severe and defensive exterior. It says that this "contrasts with the surrounding Belgravia streetscape and detracts from the area".

The Other House opened its first location in South Kensington in July 2022. The Other House Covent Garden is due to open in winter 2024.
