Denmark-based third-party hotel management company Core Hospitality is adding Zleep Hotels' 14 Danish hotels with a total of 2,288 rooms to its operations portfolio.

Core Hospitality CEO Peter Haaber founded the Zleep Hotels brand in 2013.

Haaber said in a news release that “it was also my dream to be a white-label hotel operator. Now we truly are with five brands, and more to come.”

Core now operates 19 hotels across five brands. In addition to the Zleep portfolio in Denmark, it has five hotels under the Marriott International umbrella: two Moxy Hotels in Norway, a Fairfield by Marriott and a Residence Inn by Marriott in Copenhagen, Denmark, and the independent Kirk Suites in Vejle on the Danish mainland.

Until July 31, H World International — which rebranded from Deutsche Hospitality Group earlier this year — owned 51% of Zleep Hotels. Now it owns 100% of the Zleep Hotels brand name. In January 2019, Deutsche bought the majority share in Zleep.

In early 2020, Chinese hotel firm Huazhu Hotels Group bought Deutsche Hospitality, which started as Steigenberger Hotels & Resorts in the 1930s and rebranded to Deutsche in 2016. H World International is the global entity of parent ownership group Huazhu and reverted to that name on Feb. 29, 2024.

There are eight open Zleep hotels outside of Denmark, in Berlin, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Lausanne, Leipzig, Madrid, Prague and Zurich. Those will stay with H World International, but the entire Zleep portfolio in Denmark now will sit within the management portfolio of Core.

According to its website, there are management agreements in place for two Zleep hotels in Bern, Switzerland, due to open in late 2025, and Göppingen, Germany, due to open in 2026. The two hotels in its pipeline have a combined rooms count of 340.
