A multistory mall in Flushing, New York, owned by Blackstone company ShopCore Properties, held a charity event to gather clothing and financial support for the local community with assistance from a former Korean musician.

The Shops at Skyview, located on College Point Boulevard, put on an event this month and collected more than 150 garments for youth in need. It also gathered $2,000 in donations for the Queens Public Library to support children’s education programs, ShopCore said. The company owns and operates malls and grocery-anchored shopping centers across the country.

ShopCore said Song Seung Hyun, formerly of the band FTIsland, made a special appearance as the event’s ambassador.

Overall foot traffic at the mall increased during the event hours, said Wesley Sin, regional marketing manager for ShopCore, in a statement sent to CoStar News. The "Spring Forward/Give Back" event marked the start of daylight saving time and drew fans from all over New York City as from states as far away as Texas.

“It shows that customers were interested in this new shopping center event concept combining charity, art, fashion and fun elements,” Sin said.
