When it comes to supporting distribution, the Reno Logistics Center shows the importance of location, location, location.

The property at 8001 N. Virginia St., in Reno, Nevada, is able to serve an entire region within a single day by truck. The project has also boosted employment in the area.

Those were some reasons why the center was named the CoStar Impact Award winner for commercial development of the year by a panel of outside judges who are professionals in their field and familiar with the area.

The preleased, build-to-suit center on almost 75 acres is owned by Northpoint Development.

Impact Award Judge Dominic Brunetti of Dickson Commercial Group said it's a "solid build-to-suit by Northpoint."

It hosts the online pet food and product retailer Chewy, headquartered in Boston and in Plantation, Florida. The Reno Logistics Center also offers distribution services for local clients.

Chewy's move-in back in August added jobs in the surrounding suburbs in the north valleys of Reno.

About the project: The one-story building is on more than 74 acres and spans more than 795,000 square feet.

What the judges said: "The logistical location for this project was a great decision. It gives the company a competitive advantage," said Jeff Frame of Frame Architecture.

They made it happen: CBRE Executive Vice President Eric Bennett, CBRE Industrial Division Senior Vice President Greg Shutt, Cushman & Wakefield Senior Associate Todd Collins, Cushman & Wakefield Managing Director Daniel Wilkins, Cushman & Wakefied Executive Managing Director Lou Hall.
