Most apartment property owners don't like to see new units getting built in their market as that results in more competition for renters. But Eric Bolton, the chairman and CEO of Mid-America Apartment Communities, said he welcomes the pricing gap that accompanies newly built units because it creates an opportunity for his company to raise rents in its properties.
