Canada’s unemployment rate nears an eight-year high

Canada’s unemployment rate jumped to 6.8% in November, an almost eight-year high outside of a few months following the pandemic's onset. Despite a sturdy 50,500 increase in jobs during the month, the sharp rise renewed expectations that the Bank of Canada will make another large interest rate cut later this week.
