A Tiger Woods-backed golf entertainment concept is starting construction on its second Texas location, bringing a tech-savvy version of mini golf coupled with casual dining.
PopStroke Entertainment Group, a rival to Topgolf, began work on a venue in the Dallas area at Grandscape in The Colony, Texas, in a $5.2 million project, according to a state work permit. The addition of the Florida-based mini-golf concept developed in partnership with Tiger Woods' TGR Ventures and TaylorMade brings another entertainment venue to this part of Dallas-Fort Worth, the nation's fourth-largest metropolitan area.
Grandscape, a 433-acre mixed-use development anchored by Nebraska Furniture Mart, is becoming a go-to destination for entertainment, with COSM also recently underway on its $42.5 million digital immersive facility.
PopStroke has seven locations in Florida, Texas and Arizona and expects to add more U.S. locations in the coming years. The company plans to add 20 venues in the United States by 2025, including two more in Texas, one in College Station near Texas A&M University and one in San Antonio. When the Dallas-area venue in The Colony is scheduled to open in February, it is expected to become the entertainment chain's 12th location in its portfolio.
Other U.S. locations set to open next year include Las Vegas; Scottsdale, Arizona; Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; Nashville, Tennessee; and West Palm Beach, Florida.
Like Topgolf, a Dallas-based concept acquired by Callaway Golf in 2021, PopStroke is meant to bring people together through golf regardless of skill level or age. Each PopStroke location has two 18-hole putting courses designed to replicate a traditional golf course with synthetic turf, fairways, bunkers and rough.
PopStroke opened its initial Texas location in Katy, just outside Houston, in December. Beyond the mini-golf courses, PopStroke locations include a playground, an outdoor beer garden with games such as cornhole and foosball, and an event space.
